We are pleased to inform that the Polish-American Fulbright Commission Council together with J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board have decided to award dr hab. Robert Czajkowski, prof. UG with the Fulbright STEM Impact Award 2019 fellowship!

Dr hab. Danuta Gutowska-Owsiak is the second author of the article published in the journal Science Translational Medicine: "Proof-of-concept clinical trial of etokimab shows a key role for IL-33 in atopic dermatitis pathogenesis". The work describes the first use of a new biological drug, etokimab, in patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) and the mechanism of its action.

Dr hab. Danuta Gutowska-Owsiak received further funding from the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) to develop collaboration with another FNP grant recipient. The PLN 1 mln grant will allow interdisciplinary research into innovative cancer therapies conducted together with prof. Jonathan Heddle from the Małopolska Centre  of Biotechnology of the Jagiellonian University.

The Medical University of Gdańsk now officially holds the status of a research university. It is 1 of 10 universities in Poland and the only medical university that was awarded a place in this prestigious group.

Żaczek

Funds were awarded to a project led by Dr hab. Anna Joanna Żaczek from the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology UG and MUG entitled Participation of the Microenvironment of a Tumor in the Regulation of Scattered Phenotypes in Breast Cancer Cells  in Vitro, in Vivo and Clinical Material ResearchFunds were awarded to the value of 1 552 070 zł as part of the SONATA BIS.

We are pleased to inform you that the article "Plasmid replication initiator interactions with origin 13-mers and polymerase subunits contribute to strand -specific replisome assembly" published by Professor Igor Konieczny and his team: Aleksandra Wawrzycka, Marta Gross and Anna Wasążnik, in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America in 2015 (

Girls go start-up! Academy

Anna Żaczek PhD (Laboratory of Cell Biology) and Agnieszka Borowik (PhD student - Laboratory of Biophysics) have been qualified for the prestigious program Girls go start-up! Academy.

Girls go start-up! Academyis the  first Polish startups academy for women. Organizer are  Fundację Edukacyjną Perspektywy and The Association of TOP 500 Innovators, together with U.S. Embassy.
